Ark Brunel Primary Academy

Project Details

The Ark Brunel Primary Academy scheme maximises the use of the tight urban site, creating a replacement 3 storey school with increased external space provided both at ground and roof levels.  We worked closely with the school to ensure that the design worked to include as many multi-functional ‘external classroom’ spaces as possible, creating a cohesive series of external spaces that positively support the educational needs of the school.

Design Details

  • Early Years external learning space with adventure trail through bamboo ‘jungle’, ginkgo ‘fossil’ tree planting and performance stage
  • Upper Years external learning space with woodland shade garden and seating elements incorporating original Victorian school keystones
  • Mini orchard and productive garden with insect log / gabion wall, raised vegetable planters and greenhouse
  • Roof terrace with covered learning space directly overlooking biodiversity roof and the Trellick Tower
