Everards Printworks, Bristol

Project Details

Located within the Old City district of Bristol, this mixed-use development looks to convert the former NatWest Court offices into a new hotel and conference centre, flexible space for retail / co-working and 24 residential units, bringing activity and public use to a neglected part of the City Centre. Macgregor Smith have developed a landscape and public realm strategy which builds upon the unique qualities of the Old City, with the public realm design stitching this forgotten site back into the historic fabric of Bristol. The vision for the new landscape is to bring new life to the existing network of streets, transforming the narrow lanes and shady courtyards, enabling the Old City to expand as an attractive quarter for workers, residents and tourists. Improved north-south pedestrian connectivity will link the Broadmead shopping district through to the Old City and a series of spaces adjacent to through routes are re-designed to create inviting places to discover. A series of urban greening initiatives, including green walls and green roofs, will enhance the richness and biodiversity of this historic quarter of the City.
