Silverstone Racing Circuit

Project Details

We played a key role in developing a landscape masterplan for the world famous Silverstone racing circuit – the ‘home of British motor racing’.  The proposals responded to the unique character of the site and its surroundings, seeking to celebrate Silverstone’s motor racing excellence and heritage and create a landscape framework that integrates the site into its local context.

Design Details

  • Overlap of the Grade I listed Stowe Gardens and the evolution of the historic motor racing circuit provide strong design references for the proposed masterplan layout
  • Historic landscape patterns of woodlands, rides and vistas provide the basic framework of the landscape masterplan and help to define a clear hierarchy of routes and spaces that the site currently lacks
  • Strategic structure planting along boundaries has been proposed, along with the creation of green ‘corridors’ through the site and a focus on habitat conservation
