Everards Printworks, Bristol

New mixed-use development beside Grade II listed Printworks in Bristol

Everards is a mixed-use development converting former offices into a new hotel, flexible space for retail / co-working and 24 residential units.

As an integral part of the design team we developed a landscape and public realm strategy which builds upon the unique qualities of the Old City, with the public realm design stitching this forgotten site back into the historic fabric of Bristol.

The vision for the new landscape is to bring new life to the existing network of streets, transforming the narrow lanes and shady courtyards, enabling the Old City to expand as an attractive quarter for workers, residents and tourists.

A series of urban greening initiatives, including green walls and green roofs, will enhance the richness and biodiversity of this historic quarter of the City.

Working with public art curators Ginkgo, we contributed towards the integrated art strategy for the site, which references the site’s rich history as a printworks as well as celebrating the local graffiti artists’ reputation for working in this quarter of Bristol.

This project is a great example of how our city centre environments are evolving to create better, healthier places for people to visit and of the capacity public realm designs have to bring delight and inspiration to our everyday experiences.
