Broadway Connection, Ealing

New mixed use development in Ealing, ‘Queen of the Suburbs’

Strategically located between the Broadway Shopping Centre and Ealing Broadway Station (where the Elizabeth Line services started in the spring of 2022), the proposed scheme seeks to regenerate No.s 9-42 The Broadway.

Working with architects Stanton Williams, Macgregor Smith developed proposals which deliver a multi-layered landscape providing distinct character areas at different levels of the scheme. At ground level the public realm proposals look to restore the fine urban grain and vibrancy of the original Broadway. Better connections, improved frontages and a more welcoming pedestrian environment ensure the creation of people-friendly spaces.

Building on Ealing’s identity as the green and leafy ‘Queen of the suburbs’, the proposed terraces, balconies, and stunning roof garden provide an immersive and naturalistic atmosphere which echoes the area’s historic woodlands and meadows. The resulting spaces create a biophilic environment for users to work, relax and socialise and provide measurable benefits in terms of both well-being and biodiversity.

The landscape strategy plays a central role in achieving urban greening targets, delivering 95% biodiversity net gain and integrated stormwater management through an innovative mix of Bio-solar green roofs, green walls, roof gardens and street tree planting. The scheme has sustainability at its heart; aiming for net-zero carbon, the Broadway Connection is also targeting BREEAM Outstanding, WELL Gold enabled and a 5* NABERS Energy rating.
