The Crescent is a landmark commercial office refurbishment in the heart of Bristol, where a dated 1960’s site has been transformed into a vibrant, contemporary workplace destination. At the core of the project is the reinvention of the external environment—extending the building’s amenity offer and strengthening its relationship with the surrounding public realm.
The landscape plays a vital role in repositioning the development, enhancing tenant wellbeing, and contributing to sustainability goals. The design approach embraced the opportunity to significantly improve both the function and perception of the outdoor spaces, while retaining and reusing key site elements to minimise environmental impact.
Our landscape design complements the architectural retrofit with a bold new green arrival space, featuring biodiverse planting and generous seating—creating a welcoming threshold for tenants and visitors alike. To the rear, a previously underused garden has been reimagined as a lush woodland retreat, offering a tranquil space to relax, reflect, and recharge.
A series of landscaped terraces and pocket spaces extend the office environment outdoors, providing flexible zones for informal meetings, solo working, and social interaction throughout the day.
Sustainability is embedded throughout the landscape strategy, which supports the project’s wider environmental ambitions. The scheme contributes to a BREEAM Excellent rating and is targeting Net Zero Carbon in both construction and operation, as well as achieving CycleStore Platinum accreditation.
