Huntingdon Estate, Shoreditch

Creative green workspace in the heart of London’s East End

Set in the heart of Shoreditch, the Huntingdon Estate project looks to create a contemporary creative workspace in London’s East End, with workshops, community facilities and shop spaces which can adapt to evolving working patterns in the city for years to come.

We collaborated with Morris + Company architects to design a series of multi-level external amenity spaces, including balconies and roof terraces.

Referencing the industrial heritage of the surrounding Conservation Area and the wider locale, the external amenity terraces complement the internal workspace by providing attractive and flexible spaces for working, socialising and relaxing.

An ambitious urban greening strategy comprising extensive biodiversity roofs and living walls delivers a biophilic environment benefiting both building users and the surrounding public realm.

At ground level, Macgregor Smith developed a design approach which seeks to stitch the new development back into the surrounding urban fabric of London’s East End.
